WE DID IT! ...... OUR WHOLE COMPETITION SQUAD
QUALIFIED FOR THE NATIONAL TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Branca Taekwondo entered a team of 9 competitors in the Victorian State Championships on the 4th and 5th of August 2007. It was the first time our club has contested a state title! All the following Nine competitors qualified to represent Victoria in their weight devisions at the National TKD Championships which will be held in Adelaide in September this year!
Madelyn Hargreaves-Bish - State Champion (Gold), Kristina Mengarelli - State Champion (gold), Mikayla Chandran - State Champion (gold), Alex Omozusi - state champion (gold), Jordan Omozusi - state champion (gold), David Bish- state champion (gold), Shane Trewin - state champion (gold), Nicholas Batey (silver medalist), Daryl Ellard (bronze medalist).
A special mention for the Junior STAR of the day - Madelyn Hargreaves-Bish, who outclassed her first opponent 8 - 4, and then went on to the finals to defeat her opponent 7 - 0 earning her a TKO and an early finish in the first round not to mention a gold medal and the STATE TITLE. You never would have guessed it was her first ever tournament! Also Senior Player of the day - Daryl Ellard, who easily defeated his first opponent 5-1 and went on to miss out by 2 points on getting into the finals. He took home a Bronze medal on his first ever fight (talking about jumping into the deep end). We are all hard fundraising to raise the money to send the team to the Nationals, so any donations or sponsorship suggestions would be very appreciated. Thankyou for the fantastic support of those who came to watch and cheer!

We would like to congratulate Branca Taekwondo's Competition Squad, who recently competed in their first ever VICTORIAN WINTER TAEKWONDO OPEN COMPETITION, with every member pulling in a medal!
Shane Trewin, Bailey Lucchiari, Jordan Omozusi, Alex Omozusi, and Zena Gregory, Bernadette Branca and Jasmine Branca were GOLD MEDALISTS! Millicent Dickson, Kristina Mengarelli, Mikayla Chandran, and Nicholas Batey were SILVER MEDALISTS! And Timothy Trewin was awarded the BRONZE MEDAL!
A FANTASTIC EFFORT TO ALL.........including our supportive CHEER SQUAD!
